Advisory Day, January 10th.
Remember that this Wednesday is Advisory/Assembly day and Session #3 Course Registration. All students are required to attend from 8:20 to approx. 12:30 pm (with lunch like normal). Talk to your Advisor if this schedule does not work for you due to running start, work, or other educational/professional obligations. A more detailed schedule can be found in the hallway across from the vending machine.

Conflict Resolution Workshop
All students (AM/PM) are invited to attend a student workshop on Conflict Resolution and Restorative practices facilitated by the Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County. This three-hour workshop will take place on January 18th during the AM program (8:20a-11:20a) in the Boardroom. If you are interested, you are encouraged to sign up in the office. AM students should get permission from their teachers in advance to make sure you can afford to miss classes that day. (Velasquez)

CISPUS
Don’t forget to sign up to be a Cispus camp counselor! If you are interested in being considered for a position, talk to Karen ASAP! (Griggs)

Avanti Social Gathering
 Come join us on the Thursday, February 8th at Vic’s Pizzeria (on the westside by Grocery Outlet) from 5:30-6:30 pm. Eat pizza and meet people and have fun! (Griggs)

Avanti Talent Show
Please see the Talent Show Announcement on the Home Page
The Avanti Talent Show & Community Gathering will take place on Wednesday, January 24 from 5-7 pm in the Avanti Auditorium. We will have a potluck dessert and appetizer gathering afterwards in the boardroom. Students interested in auditioning, Friday January 5th at 1 pm is the audition day, and if you can’t make it you can arrange another time with Mr. Thedell. See the announcement on the home page to fill out the form if you want to sign up. 

Avanti Tech Team
The Avanti Staff would like to invite all students who are interested in creating a Tech Team to compete against other OSD Schools to an informational meeting regarding the OSD Tech Fair on January 20th. The interest meeting will be held at 1:20PM after registration on Advisory, Wednesday January 10th, 2017 in Thedell’s room 102. Show your school pride while earning Service Learning for participation. Must have Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, YouTube, etc…) skills. (Thedell/Winkley)

Breakfast at School!
Remember that Avanti offers breakfast for students. The cafeteria is open from 8:00 to 8:20 each morning. The school district is going to cut our breakfast program if our participation doesn’t increase, so let’s try save it for those in our community who are reliant on the breakfast program. Thank you! Breakfast is $1.50 unless you qualify for free or reduced lunch in which case it is free. See Maureen in the lunchroom if you have any questions.


Zero Hour Weight Lifting W/ Andy!
Want PE credit? New year's resolutions? Having started Wednesday January 3rd, I will be giving students an opportunity to do weight lifting on Monday and Wednesday mornings starting at 7:15am. All Students are welcome to join, and no weight lifting experience is required. I will be teaching weightlifting technique and exercise science to those who are interested. Students can earn PE credit! (Andy)

Scholarship Opportunities
If you're a college/trade school bound senior and you have an IEP, see Heather in the counseling office for an application for the Jeremy Gidlund Scholarship. Scholarship award is up to $1,500.00. If you are a college bound senior and have a bank account at TwinStar Credit Union, see Heather for a scholarship application. (Kazda)

Service Learning
Great opportunity for service learning hours. The STEP program, which brings together teens and elders for through inspired conversation, is looking for new teen members. Call Linda at 360-480-1894 or email her at Linda.terry4@gmail.com or talk to Heather at the counseling office. (Kazda)

Math tutors needed
Peer tutors needed for math Fridays from 12:20-2:20 pm. Help students create a better understanding of their Learning Plans and earn Service Learning credit at the same time. Connect with Nikki or Mr. Thedell for more details or to sign up. (Winkley)

You must fill out this form (click here)! if you wish to make announcements at the Assembly. We will now be taking surveys so that announcements will maintain relevance to school activities. Only people who fill out this survey and get approval will be allowed to make announcements. (ASB)
