OSD College and Career Fair 
Olympia School District will be holding their College and Career Fair on October 9th, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Capital High School. 

Over 80 Colleges, Universities, Military Options, Career Options and Apprenticeships. 

All High School Students are encouraged to attend. Students who sing in with Pam Tebeau are eligible for a drawing to win a $25 iTunes Gift Card. 

YWCA Scholarship- Deadline Soon!

Are you a female identifying student who has been involved with YWCA programming?  Are you planning to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or math?  If the answers are yes, please see Heather for a YWCA scholarship possibility- DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 21!





Bridge Music Project

The Bridge Music Project is an eight-week songwriting workshop. During this group you will learn from experienced musicians how to write, produce, record and perform your own original music. You will get the opportunity to record in a professional quality studio and the chance to perform your finished music our final concert. YMCA Service Learning Opportunity


The South Sound YMCA is looking for students to become a part of our volunteer family.  We have opportunities in our Youth and Teen Center helping elementary school kids with their homework and being a part of the activities we will host after homework time.  

The Youth and Teen Center will host a different themed activity Monday – Thursday for kids to have fun, get creative and learn.  

Homework time will be from 4pm – 5:30pm and activities will start at 5:45pm-6:45pm with 15 min before and after for set up and clean up.

Avanti Community Discussion about Dress Code 


Join us on the afternoon of advisory day Wednesday Sept. 19th from 11:45-1:45 in Nikki's room to brainstorm and discuss potential changes to the current dress code.  Students who participate and stay will receive 2 Cultural Awareness Hours.

Horatio Alger Scholarship

Are you a senior who is who is involved in your community, has a 2.0 or higher GPA, has demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity and has a family income of $55,000 or less?  If so, you're eligible for this national and state level scholarship.  Visit to apply.  Deadline October 24, 2018.


Heather will be eligible to answer questions about anything college/post graduation related from 12:20-2:20 p.m. on Fridays.  No need to make an appointment just come to 101-C during this time period!

WorkSource Fall Hiring Event


Students, looking for employment in the near future? WorkSource will be hosting a hiring event open to the public Wednesday September 19, 2018, Noon to 4:00 p.m. at Macy's Court in the Capital Mall. Whether you are looking for a Part-Time or Full-Time position, dress to impress and bring copies of your resume.  Positions available include: cashier, customer service, finance, healthcare, hospitality, kitchen staff, office/clerical, retail, sales associate, season employment, transportation or warehouse-distribution.  For more information or further questions, contact Christina Chestnut at 
Calling all Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen! PSAT is on October 10th, 2018 

PSAT is recommended for Juniors who are choosing College-Readiness Pathway. This test also qualifies for the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). It is NOT recommended for 12th graders; they should take the SAT or ACT.

Sophomores and Freshmen can also take the test (on a space available basis), but they do not qualify for the NMSQT. We will collect money from 11th graders only until October 1st since we only have 30 tests.

Payment of $20 goes to Brenda in the office (cash, check, credit or debit card), limited scholarships are available for those on Free/Reduced Lunch.
