Smarter-Balanced Mathematics Assessment
This information is a change from what was communicated earlier: OSPI will required all 10th graders, class of 2020, to take the Math Assessment this year. We have scheduled that for May 1st & 2nd  (New Date!). The 11th grade test for students who have not passed the SB or EoC Math will be held as scheduled, May 30 & 31st. Candidates for ASB Elections
Thursday March 29; Informational Meeting room 103 - Let's do lunch! If you have not already expressed your interest in candidacy for a student council position it will be essential to come to this meeting. Those of you who have, check your student email. (Sogn)

Law Day Speech Contest
It is time once again for the annual Law Day Speech Scholarship Contest presented by the Thurston County Bar Association and West Olympia Rotary. This year’s topic is to address the legal, societal, and moral balance between First Amendment rights to freedom of speech with so-called “hate speech.” The speech should be approximately five to seven minutes long. There will be a preliminary round on April 12, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. that will take place in Superior Court at the main Thurston County Courthouse. The top three speeches will advance to a final round on May 1, 2018, at West Olympia Rotary lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Viewpoint Room at the West Bay Marina. Prize money will be awarded to the top three speeches. The total prize money to be split among the top three speeches is $1,800.This speech contest is open to all high school students attending high school in Thurston County. DEADLINE: You must notify the Thurston County Bar Association (TCBA) of your intent to participate in the speech contest no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 6, 2018. Coldwell Banker College Scholarship-available to all grades!
Coldwell Banker is offering a scholarship essay contest- "What makes a house a home?" is the essay topic. Students in grades 9-12 can enter between April 9 and May 6. Volunteer Training for the Crisis Clinic

Friday D&D Sessions
Dungeons & Dragon (D & D) sessions are now going on every Friday from 10 am to 12 pm until the end of the year. Dice and character sheets are provided, but it is encouraged for people to make their own beforehand. If you are interested, see Maxwell Moe about further details. (Moe)

Avanti Blood Drive
Avanti will be having another blood drive on Tuesday, April 24th. Those who donated at the last drive can donate this time too! You must be at least 16 years of age to donate, 16 and 17 year olds need a permission slip, you can get those in the office. You can sign up for a time to donate in the office or simply walk in the day of. (Kolln)

Teen Council of Thurston County 
They are accepting applications for next year! Teen Council is a group run through Planned Parenthood in which teens teach sex ed to Middle and High School students. If you want an application/more information talk to Avery. (Savin) 

Super Smash Bros tournament fundraiser
On April 25, 2018, during Activity Time after Session Registration, we are hosting a Super Smash Bros tournament fundraiser to benefit Blue Nile and our Ethiopian student, Bemelke. Students and staff are welcome to battle; suggested donation at least $3 per person. Sign up with a partner (or we will find you one) in the office or see Nikki if you have any questions. (Winkley)

Remember to eat the most important meal of the day at school! Avanti serves breakfast from 8:00-8:30 am each morning in the lunchroom.

Math tutors needed
Peer tutors needed for math Fridays from 12:20-2:20 pm. Help students create a better understanding of their Learning Plans and earn Service Learning credit at the same time. Connect with Nikki for more details or to sign up. (Winkley)
