AHS Vision Statement
All Avanti students will gain academic, social/emotional and college and career readiness skills to participate fully in their education. The skills learned here will allow students to grow their edges, become life long learners and advocates in their communities. 

Our Mission
All students have access to and the right to participate in academic, career, and social/emotional development. These areas enhance the learning process and support student readiness and success. The Counseling Team plans and implements their programs with consideration for student, family, school, and community members. Our team will help connect students and families to resources and support in our schools and community. Our ultimate goal is to help students obtain the knowledge, skills and attitudes that lead to academic, career, and personal success.

The Avanti High School Counseling Program provides valuable services to students, teachers and parents. Your counselor can help empower you to make informed and intentional decisions regarding your education, your well-being, and your future.

Counselor services provided at Avanti High School include:
Provide support for academic, emotional and social needs of students.
Act as a consultant to teachers, parents and administration in regards to students' educational and personal needs.
Provide referral information for students and parents relating to outside support agencies and services.
Provide college and career information and resources for students and families.
Provide support and information regarding academic and graduation requirements.

Running Start
Running Start is a program designed for juniors and seniors who choose to enroll in community college in order to earn college and high school credit simultaneously for courses completed, 100+level. Students must qualify for the program by obtaining parent/guardian permission and passing the English Guided Self Placement test given at the Community College. 

Running Start students pay no college tuition. However, they are responsible for the purchase of textbooks, supplies, transportation and other necessary fees (can be up to $600 per quarter with books)*. Students new to Running Start are required to attend an orientation at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) prior to enrolling. College Advisors assist students when planning the two year degree requirements and, high school counselors advise students for high school graduation requirements.

If you are interested in participating in Running Start, it is mandatory that you meet with Steve to start the process. 

When students are enrolled at Avanti and SPSCC, they must take 4 classes. Below you will find a chart showing how many classes are required to take.
